Entry Scout helps homeowners, renters, Airbnb hosts, and property managers choose smart locks, video doorbells, keyless entry systems, and other products used to manage access to a home or property.

Why Entry Scout Exists

How We Research Products

Before recommending a product, we review manufacturer specifications, installation instructions, compatibility requirements, warranty terms, current pricing, and available support information. We compare it with the closest alternatives and examine owner feedback for problems that appear repeatedly.

For smart locks, we pay close attention to door compatibility, installation, battery life, access options, app performance, and the cost of any required hub or subscription. For video doorbells and other connected products, we also look at power requirements, storage options, alerts, smart home support, and ongoing fees.

Some products featured on Entry Scout have been used or tested directly. Others are covered through detailed product research. We make that distinction clear and do not describe a product as tested when it was not.

Prices, features, apps, and subscription plans can change after an article is published. We revisit articles as products change and correct information that is no longer accurate.

How Entry Scout Makes Money

Entry Scout is supported in part by affiliate links. If you purchase a product through one of these links, we may earn a commission. Using the link does not increase the price you pay.

A commission does not decide which products we cover or what we say about them. If a product has a serious limitation or is a poor fit for a particular buyer, we will say so.

More information is available in our Affiliate Disclosure.
